overboard
as soon as I was born
I knew I was going to die
like falling off an ocean liner
but I had to give it a try
I lay there in the water
watching the ship sail away
I could've swum after it
But I went the other way
The loneliness hurt the most
more than any fatigue
everyone was playing together
except me in my solo league
but then I met a dugong
a turtle and a whale
I didn't want to left again
so I held on to her tail
up and down, on and on
I couldn't hold my breath
the turtle took me to the surface
he could see I was close to death
the dugong caught a little fish
I ate it raw and cold
I didn't mind the scales or bones
the energy made me bold
we swim together now
taking turns to lead
taking care of each other
sharing what we need
